This past weekend, 19 members of the Arlington High School Student Council (ASC) attended the 72nd Annual Tennessee Association of Student Councils (TASC) Convention.

During the three days, students listened to speakers, competed in multiple competitions, and attended workshops during which 8 of our own student leaders presented to other students across the state about the awesome activities here at AHS.

Additionally, Senior Drew Edwards, current TASC Executive Vice-President 2018-2019, coordinated the state elections during the convention in outstanding fashion. Furthermore, Drew was also a recipient of the Dale D. Hawley award. This award is given by state advisors to a very select group of students who exhibit leadership and service on the state level. He is only the second recipient in ASC history.

However, he wasn’t the only one being recognized by the state. Sophomore Dara Adamolekun ran for and was elected to the position of West Tennessee Senior Level Area Representative and will host the West Tennessee Leadership Day in the fall! This was only possible with the support of the entire council helping to run her campaign. This is the 3rd time that Arlington has served on the Executive Board in the last 5 years.

Congratulations to all of the students who earned awards this weekend and to the council who earned so many accolades! Student Council is sponsored by Sarah Kelley and Andrew Sossaman.
