Cleaning Protocols
Despite our full return to the classroom and extra-curricular activities, we won't cut corners when it comes to keeping our buildings and facilities clean. This year, we will continue employing Safety Compliance Assistants in each building to ensure our safety measures are being followed. SKB, our cleaning provider, will also continue the "Red Shirt Custodian" who will be in charge of regularly disinfecting commonly touched surfaces and serve as a visible reminder of sanitation efforts.
Hand sanitizing stations will also be stocked in all classrooms and common areas, and we will utilize the Clorox 360º machines as needed.

Face Masks
On August 6th, the Shelby County Health Department issued a mask mandate for all schools in Shelby County beginning Monday, August 9, 2021. According to the SCHD directive, anyone on school premises must wear a mask while indoors, regardless of the individual’s vaccination status. The mandate currently does not extend to outdoor activities. The SCHD said they are issuing this mandate due to rising pediatric COVID-19 cases and the prevalence of the Delta variant in the county.
Considering the SCHD’s latest decision to issue this mask mandate for schools, we must now reevaluate our mask policy. Per ACS Policy 6.403, the SCHD mandate signifies a communicable disease outbreak; therefore, all students, employees and visitors on our campuses must wear a mask while indoors until further notice. Students must also wear masks on school busses. Masks will be available at all school sites for students and staff who may need one.
