Arlington High's Criminal Justice Teacher Clymesa Applewhite will be representing ACS at the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. this summer! She is one of only 60 educators nationwide to be selected for the Supreme Court Summer Institute.

The Institute offers teachers the opportunity to study recent SCOTUS cases in detail and learn innovative teaching methods to bring back to the classroom. In addition to visiting the Court and attending SCOTUS decisions, Applewhite will also hear from well-known Supreme Court lawyers, reporters and scholars.

A recent evaluation of the Supreme Court Summer Institute found that, after the program, teachers who attended (1) felt much more confident discussing Supreme Court cases in their classrooms, (2) discussed Supreme Court cases and used interactive teaching strategies more frequently, and (3) gained critical knowledge about the U.S. Supreme Court.

Upon returning home, teachers will be available to present workshops on teaching about the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Applewhite will represent us so well!
