Congratulations to Hope Looney for being named the Patriot Bank Student of the Month for April! Hope was selected by the Arlington High School Social Studies Department for exemplifying the tenants of the Portrait of an ACS Graduate, which includes Communicate Effectively, Collaborate Intentionally, Cultivate Creativity, Be Resilient and Lead with Empathy. Here's what the selection committee had to say about Hope:

Hope is deeply invested in her learning and consistently steps up as a leader in group settings. She brings an ambitious, positive attitude to class every day and plays an active role in building community at school - both through her actions and her involvement as a volleyball player and member of Girls for Christ.

She’s been accepted to numerous prestigious schools and has gone above and beyond throughout her senior year to chase down scholarship opportunities, putting in the time to research and apply for aid that many students don’t even know exists. That’s a reflection of how she approaches everything: she puts in the extra work to achieve her goals and push herself further, even in the most challenging honors and AP classes. She’s a strong leader and friend who adds hard work, dedication, collaboration and kindness to any classroom. She’s a role model students can look up to.

Hope brings that same energy and drive to every challenge she takes on. During a recent classroom election unit in AP Government, she ran for president and threw herself into the process - delivering stump speeches, creating campaign materials and debating her opponents on domestic and foreign policy. She participates actively, asks thoughtful questions and consistently goes above and beyond expectations. On top of her own performance, she’s quick to support her classmates and cheer on their success just as much as her own.

Hope is cheerful and social, always sharing the good things happening in her life and showing a genuine interest in what’s going on in others’.

The Patriot Bank Student of the Month program will recognize one student in the months of September - April. One of those eight students will then be selected for a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Patriot Bank.
