Jesse "Jeb" Jones named Arlington High head football coach
Arlington High School Principal Chris Davis announced today that Jesse "Jeb" Jones will lead the Arlington Tigers football program as its new head coach! Jones, who has honed his craft under coaches from highly successful programs in Tennessee, is eager to bring his energetic vision and community-focused approach to Arlington.
“Coach Jones has a clear plan for where he wants to take our program,” Davis said. “He’s a hard worker, incredibly organized and has a great way of connecting with people. What stood out to me, and what his former head coaches have reiterated, was his relentless grind to get things done – no matter how big or small the task. He’s worked with both well-established and young teams, and he’s now ready to lead a program of his own. He’s not just looking to join a winning team; he’s ready to put in the work to build one here in Arlington. I think our athletes, staff and broader school community will love his energy.”
Jones began his coaching career in 2019 and quickly gained valuable experience in various roles. He served as the defensive and offensive coordinator at Fayette-Ware High School, helping the team secure a regional championship title in 2020. The following season, he joined the Green Hill High Football Team in Mt. Juliet, which had just completed its inaugural season. There, he took on many roles: special teams coordinator, running backs coach, offensive coordinator, and was even promoted to Associate Head Coach—a position that allowed him to see other sides of the game, such as finance and fundraising and working with boosters and feeder leagues. During the team’s first eligible playoff season, Green Hill won its regional championship.
Most recently, Jones, his wife, and their new son moved closer to West Tennessee to be near family, where he served as offensive coordinator for South Gibson High School this past season. Over his career, teams he’s coached have made back-to-back playoff appearances, with a combined record of 45-23. In his Offensive Coordinator roles, his teams have averaged 25 points per game.
“My dad was a coach, so I grew up on the sidelines, watching and learning,” Jones said. “Being a head coach has always been my dream. Arlington, specifically, stood out because of its strong community values. The high school has always been competitive in both athletics and academics, and that’s exciting for someone like me who enjoys competition. My wife and I recently welcomed our son, so we’re excited to find a place where he can grow up, and Arlington feels like the perfect home for our family.”
Beyond just AHS Football, Jones says he’s ready to work with Arlington youth programs and the middle school as well, hoping to ensure a strong pipeline of future high school athletes. “Winning starts at all levels,” Jones said. “If our youth league and middle school teams know how to compete and succeed and know what success looks like, that energy will carry over to high school. Being part of the community means showing up, so parents can expect to see me at games of all sports, school events and wherever I’m needed. I want Arlington High to have a powerhouse football program, so I’m going to work with as many people in the community as possible to make it happen.”
“He’s got the charisma and drive to bring new energy to our program,” Davis added. “I’m confident our community is going to see big things from him.”
Arlington is thrilled to welcome Coach Jeb Jones and looks forward to the future of Tigers football under his leadership!
