Excitement is soaring at Arlington High School as two of our standout golfers have teed up an incredible achievement! Senior Brandon Clark and sophomore Isabella Shannon are headed to the State Golf Championship in Sevierville next week, where they’ll be driving, chipping and putting against the best high school golfers in the state.

"Brandon and Isabella have come a long way, both in terms of how long they've been playing the game and the work they've put in this year to get to State," said Head Coach Carl Pfeiffer. "They've earned every bit of this opportunity."

Brandon Clark: From Potential to Powerhouse

According to Coach Pfeiffer, Clark was "a kid with potential" from the moment he first stepped on the green. Just two years ago, Brandon was a reliable JV player, still finding his footing after only recently picking up the game in high school. "But Brandon envisioned bigger things than being on JV," Pfeiffer said. "He set goals for himself and then went to work."

Clark's dedication to the game was unstoppable. He joined Memphis National and hit the course at every opportunity. With added guidance from a top-level coach at Spring Creek, he refined his swing, technique and mental game. After countless hours on the range and hundreds of rounds of golf, Brandon quickly rose through the ranks, becoming one of the top players on the varsity squad. He’s now known for regularly posting par or below-par rounds in competition and was part of Arlington's record-setting four-man team score of 140.

As the only Arlington boy to qualify for State after a standout performance at regionals, Brandon is determined to make every shot count on the biggest stage yet.

Isabella Shannon: A Rising Start with Championship Potential

Though just a sophomore, Isabella Shannon’s talent and poise on the course rival even the most experienced players. Having competed in national youth tournaments since the age of nine, Isabella made her way to Arlington this summer from Mexico—and she wasted no time making her presence known.

This season, she became the first Region 8 Champion in AHS history with a stunning one-under-par round, winning by an incredible seven strokes. Her list of accomplishments includes victories at the Dragon Tournament and the District 15 Tournament, as well as medaling at the highly competitive FCA Invitational at Memphis National. Currently ranked in the top 20 in Tennessee, she has consistently proven herself as a top contender.

"Isabella is a serious threat to win the state tournament, and it’s remarkable that she’s doing all of this as a sophomore," Pfeiffer said. "She’s always composed under pressure, and she’s driven. I think she’s ready to take on the best Tennessee has to offer.”

Best of luck to Brandon and Isabella as they represent Arlington High School at the State Championship!
